Commercial Cleaning Service - Disinfecting for COVID-19

by Compass Cleaning Solutions • March 17, 2020

Well, in the last several weeks, we have seen a real rise in awareness and attention to viruses in general but in particular the COVID-19 virus. This coronavirus is spreading the world.

We all are a little bit tense, and we're all a little bit concerned about that.

We, as a company, understand and appreciate the concerns that our customers have regarding the health and safety of their employees and customers, so we would like to I would like to address a couple of issues and a couple of those concerns today.

Cleaning High Impact Areas vs. Low

First of all, let me say that as a company, Compass will go into your facility on a nightly basis for however many nights a week. We are always going to touch the high impact areas, kitchens, break rooms, restrooms, and in a medical physician facility, it might be something like an exam room or the counters and different areas in those situations.

We're going to address those on a nightly basis. There are going to be other areas that are a much lower impact where there isn't a lot of community touching it and the interaction with certain areas. So in those cases, we're only going to disinfect those weekly.

Cleaning & Disinfecting

Now, I say this is in a normal situation, but obviously, we're not in a normal situation right now, so what do we recommend?

Well, at this particular point in time I'm recommending that for those of you who are already our customers, that we increase the number of areas and items that we disinfect. In other words, we suggest that we clean all touchpoints every time that we're in your facility. That would be something that would be important for you, and that is something I would recommend.

The second thing I would recommend is that if your employees are in a building in your office more than one or two days a week, maybe they're in there five days a week, we would come in after your employees have been in the office.

So if they're going to be in an office five days a week, we need to be in every night for five nights a week. Cleaning after your employee's leave is going to do the best we possibly can do to mitigate and to reduce the amount of infection or potential cross-contamination.

We recommend Chlorine Dioxide for Disinfection. Here's a video on the Chlorine Dioxide Disinfection Process

Basic CDC Protocols

Now the reality is this is not going to be a hundred percent, let me explain why.

For example, we can clean, and we always will clean and disinfect your facility and leave it the way it should be. Still, by the next morning, when your employees start coming in, they're going to begin to start touching those high-impact, high touch point areas. If there is any bacteria that they're carrying in, each person that touches that area after them, for example, the front door of your building, they come in the first, the second one touches it, the third one touches it, and it's becoming more and more contaminated as each person touches it.

Now obviously, we can't be there every single day. We can't be at every single point and wiping it down every time someone touches an area, and this is why I think it's crucial for you as a business owner, to institute the basic CDC protocols.

And what they're saying is the same thing that they say every year, which is cough into your sleeve, wash your hands regularly, don't put your hands in your eyes and mouth when you haven't washed them, stay away from people who are sick or yourself, if you're sick, stay home.

These are all really practical kinds of things to do, but at the same time, I think that it's essential for us not to be hysterical and to get into this hyper mode that I've seen in certain quarters.

We are in this together!

Practical, well-reasoned, thought-out actions are going to be the things that we need to do, and I would hope that as our customers, we can partner with you to make that happen and to work with you to make sure that you feel your building is as clean as it can be.

If you're not one of our customers and this is something you'd like to have done in your building as well, please give us a call.

In any case, our concern is really for your safety, health, and the health of your employees and customers. So if we can be of any assistance or service to you in any way, please let us know; we would love to help!

Thank you very much.
